Maggie Rose is Joining Great Country 107.7 for

York Revolution Fan Fest!

Live country music performance and exhibition against Atlantic League alumni headline annual preseason event

With less than two months until the first pitch of the 2013 season, the York Revolution have finalized plans for this year’s Fan Fest, held at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Saturday, April 13.  Beginning with a live country music performance, and leading up to an exhibition game between this year’s Revs squad and a group of Atlantic League alumni all-stars, the preseason party will kick off the seventh season of Revolution baseball at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

Helping to ring in the new season, this year’s performing artist is country music singer Maggie Rose, whose hits include “I Ain’t Your Mama."  Rose’s concert is presented by Great Country 107.7 WGTY and will be held on the Brooks Robinson Plaza beginning at 12 p.m.  The concert is a free event.

At 12:45 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet this year’s team while also seeing some favorites from years past with the first autograph session of the 2013 season, featuring both the Revs and members of the alumni team.

Sovereign Bank Stadium’s gates will open at 1 p.m. for the exhibition game, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.  The game is presented by Big Brothers/Big Sisters of York and Adams Counties.

The exhibition game is the first of its kind in Atlantic League history.  Several Atlantic League greats, including many former Revs have already committed to suiting up one more time for the exhibition.  Among those who are expected to play are 12 former Revs, including pitchers Wayne Franklin, Daryl Harang, Eric Ackerman, and Sean Stidfole, catchers Kevin Kotch and Sandy DeLeon, infielders Rayner Bautista, Travis Hake, and current third base coach Enohel Polanco, and outfielders Jason Aspito, Val Majewski, and Justin Singleton.  Other familiar names from around the Atlantic League who are set to take the field one more time include Matt Hagen (Somerset, Sugar Land), Vito Chiaravolloti (Road Warriors, Somerset, Camden), and Matt Cavagnaro (Long Island).  Former Revs infielder Matt Padgett is also hoping to attend.

"We’re really excited about this idea, and particularly for our fans, to be able to bring back so many players from past seasons that they’ll remember fondly, not only from our team, but from around the entire Atlantic League,” said Revolution President Eric Menzer.  “It’s been a lot of fun putting the team together and getting in touch with these guys, and it will be great to actually get them together here at the same time again, and play this game.  We’re all really looking forward to it, as are the players.”

The alumni team will be managed by Revolution pitching coach John Halama, who is planning to toe the rubber in the game as well.

“It’s great to get former players back together, doing something we all like doing, playing the game of baseball,” said Halama.  “I’ll probably have guys asking to play all different positions, so I’ll have to manage that, but it’s going to be a lot of fun.  Personally, I’m looking forward to being out there one last time, being a kid.”

The idea for the game was naturally appealing to the competitive juices of professional athletes.

“It’s an awesome idea,” said Franklin, who started the first game in club history in 2007.  “I’ll be travelling from California and can’t wait to take the field in York again.  I’m hoping John will give me some innings in the outfield that day too.”

The alumni team will be decked out in spectacular, unique jerseys that will be auctioned off during the event.  The jerseys, pictured below, feature a logo from every Atlantic League team, past and present, with current franchise logos on the front, and former franchise logos on the back.
